A COVID Friendly Vacation: Review of Viceroy Los Cabos
I spent three days in Cabo and got much more than I expected. The goal was to escape the stresses of wearing so many hats at home to focus on passing my NY real estate exam. In true Pisces fashion, I wanted to do that amongst beautiful surroundings and in a bikini so I booked VICEROY Los Cabos and set out for an adventure!
Arrival: Opted for the shuttle, which I highly recommend. What better way to set the time for a great trip than to be whisked away in a White Escalade, with an IPod where you set the playlist for the 20 min drive from airport to resort? The driver offers you Sanitizer prior to getting in the vehicle, there is more sanitizer in the vehicle as well as extra masks, candy, etc. Check out was quick and speedy. Your welcome drink is tailored to your drink preferences. I like smoothie over alcohol on vacation, so I was greeted with a cucumber mint refresher that really hit the spot. The hotel lobby had an open-air architectural setup. There was definitely a roof over our head but no walls to the left or right of you so there was fresh are flowing all up and through the place. You immediacy felt as ease. In addition staff wore masks 100% of the time. Guests were required to do so as well in enclosed spaces (for which there were very few!)
I am looking for a couple of things when on vacation:
Service - No Request Is Too Big Or Two Small
Cleanliness - Could I eat off the shower floor?
Cuisine - I want an orgasm in my mouth and I want it plated well
Decor - Up to date and of the best quality
VICEROY LOS CABOS checked all of those boxes in the midst of a pandemic. Instead of making our new challenges feel like a burden, they were provide a level of service that was bar none. Let me explain:
SERVICE:
Two days prior to my US departure for Mexico, the US passed a rule that to re-enter the United States, you would need a negative COVID 19 test. At check-in, concierge at the viceroy scheduled the appointment for you and provided on-site testing.
I woke up late on the second day of my stay. I missed breakfast but was a little too early for lunch. The staff at the hotel restaurant were more than happy to speak to the chef ( they took the initiative on this BTW, I was going to eat a leftover granola bar) and he was more than happy to make me breakfast if I wanted.
I wanted to catch the sunset in robe while drinking from my in-room NESPRESSO machine. It was 5 am. I couldn’t get it working. I called the front desk. I hung up from the front desk. Someone was knocking at my door seconds after the call. He fixed my machine, wore his mask during the entire encounter, and was super nice about answering any other questions I had.
My last example speaks to my vanity. I needed instagrammable pictures that were really going to enhance my social media pages. I was a solo-traveler so outside of selfies it was hard to get a great shot. I was down at the hotel’s beach bar, and asked a staff member to help me with a few photos. He went above and beyond the call of duty. He posed me, suggested angles, locations, and gave me great material to work with; over 90 photos I believe!
CLEANLINESS
I was impressed by the measures taken to protect everyone at the VICEROY. There was strategic placement of sanitizing mats at various locations in the resort, and sanitizer was overflowing and offered before every service.
My room was impeccably tended to. I was pleasantly surprised to see my makeup organized around the bathroom sink upon my return from the beach. I had left things in a terrible disarray in my haste to get to the pool so it was a really nice touch!
Common areas were just as well kept as our personal rooms. I did a 4 am workout at the gym all the cycle bikes were clean and organized. Sanitizer was everywhere. Weights were in place, Each machine was operating properly. No qualms there.
